TECHNICAL OFFICER

Salary £28,000 (35 hours per week)

We are seeking to appoint a Technical Officer to work alongside our Casework and practical services team.  The successful candidate will be highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. The main purpose of this role is to provide technical advice and support to best meet the needs of clients through adaptation, repair and improvement to their homes.

Within this role, your main responsibilities will include providing technical support and advice to clients and staff, preparing detailed schedules of work, specifications and drawings to determine accurate costings and provide contractors with all necessary information.  You will also obtain planning and building approval (where necessary) and monitor building prices to ensure that an efficient cost effective service is provided whilst building good working relationships with contractors and others.

The successful candidate will have worked within a similar role previously and will ideally hold a relevant building qualification to HNC level . You will have a sound knowledge of domestic building construction and defects with an understanding of current building regulations.

Essential skills include diagnosing defects, preparing estimates and schedules and monitoring building work on site.

It is essential that you are able to communicate effectively both face to face and on the telephone with the ability to make clear written and oral reports.  You must also be able to provide detailed and accurate schedules of work and specification for repairs/adaptations.

You will be capable of dealing with a range of building trades at both a practical and theoretical level.  You must also be IT literate.
