Appointment of Independent Chair to the DSW Board of Trustees
Are you interested in becoming Chair to the Board of a progressive national sports agency?
Could you make a real difference to the future of disability sport, and sport for disabled people in Wales?
Can you think strategically, offering high challenge and support to an executive team that is passionate about their work and committed to transforming our sporting landscape in Wales?
If the answer to the above questions is yes then this might be the opening in sport you are looking for.
The Federation of Disability Sport Wales (FDSW) is seeking to appoint a forward thinking independent Chair to strategically support the delivery of its current strategy through to 2019, and build the strategy for beyond.
The Federation of Disability Sport Wales is a company limited by guarantee, with charitable status. It acts as the lead strategic body for the development of disability sport and physical activity in Wales. The Board currently consists of the President, a Vice-President and four elected representatives from the National Member Associations – Welsh Sports Association for People with Learning Disabilities, Welsh Paraplegic and Tetraplegic Sports Association, Welsh Association for Visually Impaired Bowls and Welsh Deaf Sport.
The successful candidates will be offered tenure for a term of four years from the date of appointment and will be expected to act primarily for the benefit of company and those it represents (i.e. be subject to all commensurate fiduciary responsibilities and duties).
This is a voluntary position. Expenses will be reimbursed in line with FDSWs Expenses Policy.
There are 5 Board meetings per year. Most Board meetings will be held at the Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, but to reflect the geographic diversity of our Directors at least one meeting a year will be held in North Wales. Whilst the Head Office is in Cardiff the Chair could be based anywhere in Wales. Video links are available across Wales for all Board Meetings.
