Swansea

Teaching young people circus skills brings enormous benefits in terms of their confidence, self-esteem and empowerment. More and more we are being asked to measure these changes, and this is a challenge. There are a few models already out there for measuring these kinds of "soft outcomes".

We would like to develop some tools that work specifically for our settings to produce more in-depth results, and that can be shared as a model of good practice within the sector.

The internship involves:
• Reviewing our existing evaluation methods and results
• Designing and trying out tools and resources
• Gathering data
• Putting a report together of what we have learnt

At the beginning of March 2013, Tenovus launched their first Volunteer Survey. This was sent to all people currently volunteering within the organisation. This is the first time volunteers have been asked directly about their experiences of being involved with the charity.

We are now looking for an intern with an interest, or who is looking to gain experience in research, to provide support to the Volunteer Development team in the dissemination of this information.

 Inputting data from the paper versions received;
 Analysing the results of the survey;
 Assisting the Volunteer Development Manager in the production of the ‘Volunteer Survey report’;
 Help to report the findings to key stakeholders, including volunteers, staff, board members and senior management team.
